Calcium is one of the most important nutrients determining the quality of fruit, and its known general effect is to slow down and delay the ripening of fruit. Fruits with a favourable calcium content have a lower respiration intensity, are generally fleshier and therefore easier to store and less susceptible to physiological diseases.
The uptake, transport and incorporation of calcium within the plant is very specific, making it difficult for sufficient quantities to reach the fruit during the growing season. Therefore, the risk of low calcium levels cannot be explained by low soil calcium uptake alone. A continuous supply of calcium through the foliage is essential.
FitoHorm's calcium formulations are an economical and ideal solution to this problem. We recommend the use of nitrogen-free formulations in the second stage of apple growth (or earlier for sensitive varieties).
In cherries, to avoid cracking and sprouting at maturity, and in vegetables and onions, to increase shelf-life and prevent calcium deficiency symptoms, we strongly recommend it.

Suggested use:
- for foliar fertilisation: 5 l/ha/acre, in home gardens at a concentration of 1-2 % (1-2 dl/10 l water)
- for fertilizer application: 0,1-0,5 % (1-5 l/1 000 l water)
